55 x 45 cm Screenprint and oil on canvas Ardour is an expression of the passion required to give birth to fresh creativity. The elements of the painting - fine lines and grid, smoky ultramarine glazes, and heightened rose all evoke aspects hinted in the title. 
CONSCIOUS
59.5 x 78 cm Oil on board Conscious suggests a narrative of human consciousness. The naturalistic background, the gestural slash across the face of the painting, and the strands spilling from the centre, symbolise ancient and contemporary artistic traditions. CLOUD OF UNKNOWING
The Cloud of Unknowing paintings have been inspired by The Cloud of Unknowing, a 14th Century (anon) English manuscript composed as a spiritual guide for contemplation.

120 x 100 cm Oil on board In Cloud of Unknowing 1 a delicate red drapes down like a bloodstain, symbolising vulnerability and life. An existential number ‘1’ emerges within the central negative space.

120 x 100 cm Oil on board In Cloud of Unknowing 4, the woman, the form is reminiscent of a mother goddess figurine, representing ancient notions of femininity. Veiling within the painting space symbolises the hidden complexities of feminine life and the ever-present desire and burden of fertility.
